Matthew’s class is a mixture of asana (postures), mindfulness meditation and breathwork. The class is an hour and a half long and is about a third sitting, a third laying down, and about a third standing.

We hold each asana for a few breaths so we may build long term muscle memory. Throughout the practice are segments of slow flow where we mix movement, breath and asana. This allows us to deepen our practice, and keeps you completely present, slowing or stopping mind chatter, and producing a sense of calm and wellbeing. Your body’s natural biochemistry responds to this type of activity by releasing your happy hormones such as dopamine, endorphins, oxytocin and serotonin.

Each class is taught with full instruction for each asana each time. You do not need to know anything in advance. The goal is to develop a strong basic foundation to build on and to progress at your own pace. Our focus is on health and longevity, and to avoid injury or strain from trying to progress too quickly.

If you are currently in yoga, or physically active in something such as aerobics, or Zumba, something where you move and are flexible, it will be easy to drop right into the class. However, if you have not exercised for a long time, are recovering from injury, or are concerned you will be not able to participate without an introduction, it’s best to start with a private or group new student orientation.

Drop ins are welcome. If you have questions of any kind contact Matthew directly by text, phone or email. If you would like to sign up for a new student orientation, please visit:
